Possibly “Peanut Ear” but may never know.

“Although the names of the majority of these early carvers have been lost over time, their distinctive carving styles have made it possible to identify the works of specific individuals. The Original Hobo Nickel Society (OHNS) has provided nicknames for some of these artists. One of the better known of these is “Peanut Ear.””

You could PM @Hobosapian, he might know.
Don't let it drive you apes, lol
Cool looking Hobo Nickel...his hair looks like pinecone texture.
really done nice, to bad it was not the 24-D or S that would have made it even sweeter!
Does anyone know an approximate value range? thanks, RJ
Well worn date and reverse show it was done well after 1924.
Tooling seems to be by hand, which is a positive.
Without attribution to a specific artist or proof of age I am guessing value is based purely on eye appeal.
Most are priced in the $20 $80 range. I've seen well known Hobo nickel carvers ask up to several hundred dollars apiece. Some makers sign their nickels with their initials.
That is an interesting piece.....I have often considered going to the old hobo camps I knew of around the railroad tracks here and MD'ing in the hopes of finding an old hobo nickel...have not done it, but did notice while out in the area that two of the most popular sites (I am talking sixty five and more years ago) are now commercial property. Sad...Cheers, RickO
