No, there certainly isn't any football on today or tomorrow. I usually watch football on the weekends. I actually had to talk to my wife today, something I haven't done in months.

You could always spend time in the Joe Lewis room.

Oh, definately. I've already been in Joe's room 5 times today to chat with his cards. As a matter of fact, I met his cards for lunch earlier.

Now, let's not drink too much, and end up puking all over the cards.

May you pull a perfectly centered, blemish-free Fernando. Good luck!

  • HorseHorse Posts: 675 ✭✭✭✭

Well, it's as far as have gotten so far. It still sits there on the kitchen inner dining thingy table. Thanks for the wish on Fernando :)

One can simply tell by Pete's facial expression,. it's going low, and slow.
    .

    • left column: Pretty decent
    • middle column: Could be fine for raw set collectors.
    • right column: Perfect (FOR ME TO POOP ON !!!)
    • front: Excellent examples of HOFer Off Centered Greatness.

Yes, that is as far as the box has gotten.. in four days. This isn't due to 'checking out each card and looking at pop reports'. This is due to the horror that awaits upon gazing at further cards in the box !! Should not have opened, and one should not ever sell a 1981 Topps Vending box to anyone without advising them of the imploding horror within.
    .
    BURN IT !!!!

(wait, still lots to go .. Have put on the ABBA album with Fernando on it).

When I first saw the title, I thought this thread was going to be about things you can get done in the last 2 minutes of an NBA game.

Hang in there my friend. Your stack of pretty decent already looks to be 15+ strong. That is a miracle based on my 1981 ripping experience. Tough year for centering with those thin borders. Add all the print defects and you have one tough set. Rippin’ those early 1980’s boxes isn’t for the faint of heart 😎

Insanely tough year condition wise. How did the case of Mich Ultras fare?

Conundrum - Loving my unopened baseball card collection....but really like ripping too

There used to be a guy that would post rips and light them on fire. I sure wish he was still on here. I would love to see a good ol fashion baseball card BBQ.

    Canseco on fire!

  • HorseHorse Posts: 675 ✭✭✭✭

Man, that sounds Gnarley !! :)

  • doubledragondoubledragon Posts: 23,269 ✭✭✭✭✭

A card BBQ. I like my Alex Cora cards well done.

The only ones even close -

    .

The Hall of Famers. Yes, this was it in the box for Hall of Famers. All centered perfectly. :
    .

    .

    • Left stack - A few years ago these could have been moved to the now gone 2 be graded stack. That is of course while gauging quality while consuming alcohol. The next day 9/10ths of them would be moved to the torture pile.
    • Right stack - Liberal like.
      .

    .

Wish there could still be some enjoyable 'card fun episodes' with that right stack. (well this whole box actually). Rumor has it Stone is still around, so no can do. :(

I vow to not EVER open early 80's products again. Warning labels will be placed on any I sell.

That card must have been as surprised as I was when Harold got in. It just split in half...

Nice seal. Better than most. 😂

    Harold Baines.

Does anyone know if 492 count 1981 vending boxes float in pools ? If so, for how long prior to Titanic outcome ?
