You know D, I have bought some nice coins from said dealer and I did not have any problems , but there are members who have issues with his manners, notably Rob. I wouldn’t vouch for the authenticity of a coin that he sold 40 years ago, totally inexperienced at the time even if I hadn’t seen the images.
This was not purchased as a single coin sale, nor with a multiple item sale. The coin was bought 40 years ago as part of some of the large lots that Zarit sold from time to time .. all coins were truly raw (no holders of any kind) in small bags and envelopes full of mixed nice world coins that were not worth the trouble to list separately with his bi-monthly lists. However, many $50-$100-$150 coins were found in each batch. I gave the coin to Ajaan as a curiosity and thought that it was a contemporary counterfeit that he could have fun with.

The base metal is showing through the gold gilt. It isn't real.

FUNNY!
Contemporary Counterfeit?
Its obviously fake. The question is how old is it. If it is a counterfeit from the era it might have a little value as such.
The next question:
How can you tell if it's a contemporary counterfeit? The coin was bought over 40 years ago.

I'm surprised you had to ask if it's real!
