1979, HP 41C calculator killed my slide rule career.
I recall that thing cost nearly $200. Rent for the whole semester was only $300! 😂😂
There are assorted HP calculator emulator apps available. Some free, some not.
this thread has caused me to realize some "New School" gadgets that are really helpful and some that aren't necessary and maybe not even an improvement. at the same time there are also some that time has said are obsolete and Progress has eliminated from the choice pool.
in the end my choices are dictated by two thoughts: will it make my life any better?? will it make my life any simpler??
You guy's are great! Ever since I started this thread, It continues to make me think. I just remembered I have this other "Old School" contraption hidden in my basement. Found this probably close to 10 -15 years ago at my old job. Pretty cool job, I worked in a 30 story apartment building where when residents would move out. They would leave many things behind, this was one of them! Has anyone ever seen such a thing? It does look like it is to be used for coins but I'm sure other things as well. Thanks

Ok this thread is getting old folks home creepy.
LOL! I guess we are older bunch than we want to believe! Let's hope the young kids have as much passion about coin collecting as we do. (I sound like I'm old)
I have some people calling me "old school" because I still have an aol email address. I tell them I got it in 1998 and where else could I get an email address that just my name - no caps, underscores, spaces, or numbers?
So... How many of you own 78 RPM records? Whether it be Elvis on Sun or RCA Victor or for the older crowd... Jelly Roll Morton or Bennie Moten... Just as an example and also on Victor? So yeah... I am old school and proud of it in terms of what I think matters.
