The PCGS 2020 Coin Quest Continues. Collect all 6 To Win.
What is the PCGS Coin Quest?
The 2019-W PCGS Quarter Quest, which was a revolutionary competition for bounties and limited special labels on circulating 2019-W America the Beautiful Quarters, was a huge success. PCGS is continuing this program with PCGS Coin Quest, a competition offering rewards for lucky Collectors who complete the PCGS Coin Quest 2020 Set.
All collectors who complete the PCGS Coin Quest 2020 Set Registry by April 30, 2020 will be entered in a random drawing for $2,000. Additionally, the collector with the highest graded set will receive $2,500.
Each year, freshly minted Cents, Nickels and Dimes are released into circulation from the Mint through banks. We are challenging collectors to cherry pick the finest known examples before they face the harsh reality of circulation wear and damage.
Check your change and let the roll hunting begin, because the quest is on, again!
The limited time Early Find special label will be available for qualifying submissions of each of the three circulating coins from both the Denver and Philadelphia Mints, making a total of 6 coins for the collection.
Submit your 2020 Circulating Coins for the Early Find program for $20 per coin plus shipping and handling.
What are the rewards?
$2,500 Reward for the Finest Set Assembled by April 30, 2020
$2,000 Reward for one of the Collectors that have completed the set by April 30, 2020

This will be interesting.
Short time frame so the 2020!Unc set cannot be used.

hmm....
PCGS should make enough off submissions to more than compensate for the prize money.
Meanwhile most of the graded coins will be worth nil right off the bat. Interesting play. An ultra-modern ms65/ms66 dime is basically worth face. I wonder if the early find label will create some kind of demand. Then I wonder if that demand lasts past the cutoff for the competition.
I liked the W-quarter thing. Not sure about this one.
I will be looking for the new W quarters with the privy mark....another variant for my W set...Cheers, RickO

Seems like an expensive lottery ticket to me. I don't play the lottery.
Why omit all the quarters, that would be another 18 coins in the set assuming there are three branch mints P/D/W and six designs this year.
By creating all these new "limited" labels and numbered certificates It reminds me of the sports cards hobby. In the early 90's there was an explosion of parallel inserts, low pop, signed, authentic pieces of bats/jersey's included into sets. It seems to have worked for the modern sports card hobby. Since The Mint controls the coin I guess the TPG creates a similar demand with collectors of moderns using the various forms of early find, firsts day/strike, signed labels but by doing this the coin itself seems to lose some of the focus.
I guess if you are a purist of numismatics these types of labels likely do not appeal but I cannot imagine this not continuing and expanding in the years to come. What's next, how about an authentic cut of canvas from a Carson City Mint bag and encapsulated along with a CC Morgan Dollar from one of the "hoard discoveries" or cut signatures from historical documents and letters of previous notable Mint personnel and affixed to a unique label for older coinage? Seems a bit absurd but the sports card industry has already shown that going to the extreme did prove to further the hobby at the expense of authentic memorabilia when of all things a Babe Ruth used bat was shaved and pieces affixed to insert cards. That expanded to many other players bat, game worn jerseys, gloves, cut signatures etc and now its common place.
When I started collecting it was via moderns and I found the First Strike labels appealing and older coins rather plain and unattractive. Thanks to discovering this forum, a lot of reading and a little patience my focus and appreciation has shifted dramatically to much older coinage and a disinterest for modern releases and special labels.
My guess is the 2020 West Point/Privy quarters will be part of another competition similar to the 2019 West Point quarters.
We shall see...
I watched these video's this morning to bad there wasn't a w nickel & dime in the set's.
