Wilmington DE show report

So this show is a Thursday to Saturday show. We really like this because there never seems to be that lull on Saturday like a Sunday has. Thursday started with lots of trading with other dealers. Lots of key dates in all series were moving. When the public came in there was quite a line coming through the doors. We sold everything from half cents to morgans. Lots of people commenting on the metal prices going up. We were not offered much in tje way of buying but all series were being sold at my table.

Friday.... again started with lots of customers coming through tje door. We thought it may be busy because of tje threat of bad weather on Saturday. It was very steady all day long, again with lots of sales in all different categories.

Saturday was way busier then expected. Even with bad weather coming lots of collectors still came in the door and they also had a nice yn program. I saw a number of yn's coming in for that.

What I noticed (what people here want to know about)

-90% silver was trading at 12.90 to 13.75.
-people were happy with the rising precious metals market
-keys dates of all series were in demand
-lots of raw coin buying was occurring.
-average circ common morgans were between 15 to 18 depending on grade
-had more people asking for currency more then normal.
-had lots of coins offered to me on friday. I bought complete sets of indian head cents, wheat cents, buffalo nickels, and mercury dimes.

  • collectors seems enthusiastic about collecting and had lots of interest in introducing new people into the hobby
  • had lots of new collectors who were working on there first set, they had lots of questions but it appeared they have been trying to do as much research as they understood.

This is a nice show and well run. The security is great! They even have a security guy who drives through the parking lot all day. The two gentleman who run the show for the coin club do a great job making sure everything is taken care of and that all dealers have what the need.

On a personal business note this was the best show I have ever had at this location. Great way to start the year.

@COINS MAKE CENTS....Thanks for the interesting show report. Nice display of coins. What are all those Boy Scout tokens you have there? I am not familiar with them.... That shiny gold one looks nice, but I cannot make out any details... got a better picture? Thanks...Cheers, RickO

I browsed your inventory for about ten minutes. A very nice selection of material! It sounds like I should have come on Friday though, if that is when your buying happened. I will have to remember that for the future.

Congratulations on a good show. I also agree, it is a very well-run show.

The boy scout tokens are different pocket pieces that were given out in the 60s to the early 90s. One type has the oath and law on it and the other is to make sure you did your good turn daily. Upon doing so your suppose to transfere it from one pocket to another one

Nice report! Good to see you take Visa and other forms of payment too. I know that cash rules at coin shows, but it's sure nice to have alternatives too.

@COINS MAKE CENTS ...Thank you for the reply. Now I know why I was not familiar with those Boy Scout tokens... I joined the Navy in '59....so when they became popular, I was long gone....Cheers, RickO
