The lack of sales figures weekly by 5pm each wed. By the Mint in my opinion is the biggest blunder to the industry and the entire collection community I have experience over the past 4 years. Many look to these figures to aid in purchasing decisions. I have never seen such a inexcusable disruption in transparency IMHO. I really like the many connections I have but this really got under my skin. Anyone else able to think of such a time this has happened in the past?

We've been waiting for this for hundreds of days.

Now I know how worthless my reverse proof innovation dollars are.

Gave them to my six year old grandson and he loves them. Found out he also collects state and national parks quarters
from circulation. I will make a collector out of him yet. He likes the couple of silver eagles I have given him and he also asked me for some gold coins. I don't know if he just likes the color or knows how much they are worth.

Give him Sacs or Pres. $1 "Gold Coins." Even some of my adult in laws still believe they are made of Gold. >:)

Funny you should say that. Every year I gave my mother a proof set of the presidential dollars. When she passed away I took the sets back. My brother said to me that he wanted half of the money for the "Gold Coins" I took.
I just laughed and said if they were gold I never would have given them to her in the first place. :D

Not sure NN has it right. Especially the MS $5 Gold Amer. Legion mintage.

Is there a contact name and phone number I can call at NN to discuss reported mintages I believe may not be accurate?

All 11 sales numbers are incorrect.

Ouch... the AmLegion figures are pitiful. The Basketball HOF not much better, considering the wider appeal...

In a market where anything less than a same day sell-out is a flop... can you say flop?

So the first two weeks saw uptake of 9,400ish coins or not quite 19% of the mintage of the gold $5. 17.4% of the dollar and 7.4% of the clad???

The AmLegion coins ended up in the low teens, that's barely enough to cover costs so they receive (some) surcharge. Just like Boy's Town.

I would say the bloom is off the vapid modern commemorative coin programs.

The United States Mint accrues surcharges for every commemorative offering. Surcharges are only paid if revenue exceeds total operating costs for the specific commemorative program. Surcharges for both the American Legion coins and the Boys Town coins will not be paid out in Any amount because both coins revenue did not exceed operating costs...

“I would say the bloom is off the vapid modern commemorative coin programs.”

Just a matter of price. Why would I want a raw basketball gold coin for mid $600s when I can buy a nice 70 grade baseball coin signed by a Hall of Famer and authenticated (grade and signature) by PCGS for a hundred (++) dollars less? No thank you. I bought 0 basketball coins.

If the Mint had priced the basketball gold coins similar to how they priced the baseball coins, I would have probably bought hundreds of them. Nothing to do with “bloom”.

    Just my 2 cents.

Demand is certainly there but supply is questionable. West Point mint has again for the third time this year reduced production over pandemic concerns.

July 29, 2020: The US Mint has reduced it's bullion coin supply to Authroized Purchasers.

"The facility is no longer able to produce gold and silver coins at the same time, forcing it to choose one metal over the other, according to the document, which was presented to companies authorized to buy coins from the Mint last week."

We all know what higher demand and now a reduced supply should do to physical PM prices. What remains to be seen is "will market forces or external forces control the price of gold and silver?"

Do you know how many coins were recycled? There is a section in the mint diectors report that has inventory and that determines how many pounds. I think they recycle something like 283 pounds on average every quarter. Thanks. So anything under 283 is fewer coins were recycled, and anything over 283 recycled more coins.

Recycled coins are on the circulating side of the Mint's business. The numbers I reported above are from the Bullion side of business.
The only time I've seen referenced to recycled coins is on the Mint's Annual Report and the 2020 Annual Report will not be posted until 2021...
