I must admit I won this on Ebay and cannot find anything on this one. Other than it comes from the Benjamin Fauver collection. And, it seams to have an overdate. I know nothing more......Google talks about a National Guard, other than that I cannot find any info on it. Thanks in advance.

Nothing much more to it that the info given by the inscription, the Encampment of the New Jersey National Guard, 2nd Brigade at the Jersey Shore Borough of Sea Girt. The encampments were both about drilling and camaraderie, usually not nearly intense as the two week National Guard summer camps of the 1950's, 60's and 70's that tied up many a road with endless convoys. A number of local and state guard and militia units commemorated their drills and meetings in the 1880's and 1890's but much more often with ribbons and ribbon badges rather than tokens and medals. The piece will not be listed in any of the token catalogs unless there is a New Jersey state military catalog of which I am not aware (there is not a NJ trade or merchant token catalog). Nice rim cud on the reverse.
Benj Fauver was a long time friend who had a large general inventory of tokens beyond his game counter, Mexican, California, CWT & other collections. His series of denominational game counter catalogs are the most complete out there but unfortunately they were not widely distributed and never reached a standard catalog status. Most collectors use the less adequate but (used to be) much more available TAMS supplement by Fuld & Rulau.
@coinsarefun.... I cannot help, but I do like the token... simple, but elegant, obverse....Is it brass? Cheers, RickO
Nice token. I like it.
The Sea Girt encampment is currently the New Jersey State Police Academy as well as a NJ National Guard training center.
Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.
The first pic is the Seal of New Jersey.

Thanks to everyone for their input. I appreciate it so much.
@tokenpro I was wondering if what we see is what we get....lol Nonetheless I really like the design and simplicity.
I have been purchasing a lot of material from Benj Fauver estate. It must have been exceedingly cool to have known him. I have managed to get many of his Flag Counters and other items. I also have purchased a few of his books
and am hopeful his work and effort gets much more notice in the future.

NJ National guard started out as a state militia. I've dug some early militia relics in NJ. Nice pick up. Peace Roy
