Let's see.... the long dry spell (if you did not make your own or know where to go)....1920-1933.... Wow... Long time...Glad they sorted it out before I came along.... Cheers, RickO
Could have bought a few rounds. The irony of prohibition is that it was ended it because it would and did drive revenue from taxes back into the government.
We could have had commemorative coins honoring Prohibition this year!

Leon and Eddie's Nightclub Good Luck Coin
The club began as a Prohibition-era speakeasy and later operated as a nightclub.
Leon and Eddie are shown thumbing their noses (at Prohibition?).

Maybe this one? Did these circulate much?
Given that 100 years ago was 1920, I'm interested in @ricko and @metalmeister 's coins. Were you guys using time machines?

100 years ago today my grandpa was laid off at the Bromo Seltzer factory. It all makes sense now.
Those jobs tend to fizzle out.
Maybe a bit off topic.
Either that, or buying moonshine!

My great grandmother was a party girl and worked at a speakeasy in East St Louis IL serving drinks and possibly other things.
She was a hoot and I listened with fascination to her stories about gangsters, gambling, booze and numbers running.
My grandmother (her daughter) was not as amused by her stories.🤔
I guess she was a true"flapper."
She still had some of her flapper dresses when I was a little kid.
I guess there would be some value to them if they were still around. (?)
Her husband, my maternal great grandfather, was a hoot too.
I used to ride my bike over to their house and mow their lawn and do other odd jobs for them.
After I was done we would sit on the porch and have beers.
He also taught me how to read and interpret the Racing Form.
I was probably about ten years old.
My mother was pleased with me for being so nice and helpful to her grandparents, big lol
.....Little did she know.....
One of our famous local bootleggers went to the pen because of prohibition.
He was apparently one of only six persons that PresIdent Calvin Coolidge ever pardoned for violating such laws.
He came back home and more discretely continued in the same business as before. Later he helped Al Capone a bit after Capone's stint in prison. That involved illegal gambling.
Not sure these came out in time but somebody would probably give you a beer for one even if it was illegal.
