I was thinking about attending the NYC coin show this weekend

If my wife and I can work out the timing we thought we would go on Saturday. If we do decide to go we would have to plan this trip out. I was thinking about eating breakfast at home and then we plan our route to the show. Walking time will probably be around 10 minutes. Hopefully we will not be fatigued.

We mainly collect double eagles and I have maybe... 10-20 common pieces I might wish to part with. Let's say ms 63 Saints (Pccgs/ngc graded) for example.

Today, Are they worth anything above melt as I suspect I will be offered?

In truth, my wife will buy all the 63's I wish to sell at melt so I have a live in buyer at melt.

Could I get $20-$30 above?

The show is geared for collectors of foreign and ancient coins.
That said, you could almost sell those coins but might not find much US type to buy.

Look at Stack’s daily gold fax. Gives good indication.

    Opps.... foreign and ancient coins?

    That settles that.

    Thank you.

If you change your mind and want to come to the show, stop by my table. I'll try to offer something over melt.

Your wife will buy your double eagles for melt? Is she a refiner?

The whole worlds off its rocker, buy Gold™.

If I attend I certainly will stop by.

A refiner? No. She's my wife.

I do business with her since she pays in cash.

Dont forget currency too. And I might add coin storage boxes and books to the mix as well.

Today Friday (public) might be your best bet as far as weather wise. Was there yesterday for the Early Bird admission at exactly 12 noon, Seem well attended.

Just wanted to give a shout-out to Stephanie from PCGS (Paris branch) who helped me with the new 2020 Submittal form.

Unfortunately I won't make the show.

I guess babysitting in Massachusetts while the kids are skiing gets priority?

In the meantime can I rant about the lack of shows in coin Manhattan?

Maybe costs are too great? Perhaps the unions? If nothing else we could all pile into Heritage's offices and banter?

Quite simple shows really don’t do well in NYC because all the collectors hate going into the city hence turnout is low. I’m not talking about special events like the international or an ANA I talking about other shows. The better play would be a large national show either in LI near Kennedy airport or NY near Newark airport. There are a lot of other issues with NY and NJ but I don’t want to make this a large post

I swore I would never go to New York until a car I just had to have was in Long Island. Had a friend take me up. All was well except the weather was getting bad and we got delayed with the transaction into rush hour. 20 or 30 minutes down the road and my friend is screaming I gotta go, I gotta go. Damn if we didn't take a 1 way exit into Manhatten during Rush Hour. Sitting on a side street next to a Hotel with a security guard threatening to tow while my friend relieved himself I could just see and feel all the tension in the air just by watching the pedestrians. If I'd had a gun there would've probably been a couple of dead taxi drivers! If I wasn't driving a jewel there would have been a couple of wrecks! I won't say never, but seriously doubt you will ever see this country boys face around NY again!
