I bought this because it had such luster of the likes I've never seen on a Buff. Lots of frost too. Is it possible there are any proof like Buffalo's in existence?

Frosty! Looks nicer than many 37 proofs out there.
I know there are designation’s for PL Jeff’s but buffs? Not sure. I believe a quick search on Coin Facts will give you the answer if there is a designation or not
Buffalo nickels are eligible for the “PL” designation, now that PCGS has expanded the use of it to various series. However, to me, the coin doesn’t look (even like a shot) PL.

Maybe it's the photo. I've seen a lot of 37 and 38 Buffs with a lot more proof-like fields than that coin appears to have in that photo.
Do you have any photos of one? I know mine is not PL however it does have patches in the fields that reflect light
to a point of looking like a "White Out" when viewed with a magnifier. It's brighter than any coin I've seen, wish I could get a better photo of it!
Maybe one of the Buffalo guys has one. I've just never considered it exceptional. I saw a whole original roll of mirrored 38s for sale once. Flashy but didn't really raise my eyebrows too high.
A very nice Buff, but not PL....Certainly a keeper if you are a Buff collector. Cheers, RickO
Thanks @ricko. I found this 1937 D proof like and I think it's the only PL Buff graded by NGC. The guy who discovered it sent his 1937 D NGC MS63* to NGC because he thought it was a PL. Going to see if Pcgs has graded any.
Wonder what their worth!

That is a very nice Buff!
Doesn't look PL from the pics but that characteristic can be tough to image.
