New TrueViews of Buffalo, Mercury, halves
I've always enjoyed TrueViews. They've actually enhanced my enjoyment of a coin. Over the holiday break, I sent in several slabs for GS reholder service. Once again, PCGS delivered a great product:
I'm mainly interested in dimes and half dollars, but I certainly enjoy the Buffalo. The 13 is MS65 and the 38-D/D is MS66. I welcome any comments on strike and die state. How did I do with these?
I've been focused on later date Mercurys as of late. These first two are MS67 without full bands, purchased about three years apart from GC. Both of these images exceeded my expectations. Now, what's with this toning? This distinctive look, which I see from time to time, is a mystery to me. It seems like a later-date thing.
Here is a proper FB coin , with appearance and toning similar to two others in my set. Here I like how the image presents the darkest of the peripheral toning without making it look like, you know, terminal corrosion. It's just within my tolerance for toning, and the coin shows brighter colors nicely too.
This 66+ oddity is on the striated side of prooflike (or what used to think "prooflike" meant before PCGS started designating PL). It was a find in ebay's land of lousy cellphone pictures; I'm still not sure how I feel about it, but I'm inclined to keep it. Maybe I should start telling people it was struck on aluminum.
Here's a 68CAM, a grade that seems to be the value sweet spot in 64 Kennedy proofs. My only critique is here; I think the reverse could be brightened a half-stop or so.
One online dealer had a virtual roll of these in 66, which to me looked like a terrific opportunity. Think it'll upgrade? (I'm kidding.
But please tell me no anyway.)

Oh, they are great! Kennedy spectacular!
“...aluminum.” LOL
The pics look great, I'm somewhat confused by the MS65 grade for the T1. It looks like its undergraded to me, but I'm certainly not an expert on the series so maybe one of the buffalo experts can chime in and offer thoughts on the grade.
My Collection of Old Holders
Never a slave to one plastic brand will I ever be.
I agree the type 1 buff looks to be a 66 from the pics. Either way your coins look spectacular.
Very nice 👍
Very nice coins....The TruViews certainly display them well...Check your '38 D/D really close... could be a D/D/D....I found one slabbed as a D/D. Cheers, RickO
Very nice!

Nice looking coins! Doing the gold shield service for $5 extra dollars is 100% worth the money, as proven in your post. Since I don't take great pics, I pretty much always get gold shield when I sub at PCGS. By the way, I have your 1941-D's brother...
its all good. I really like the buffalo's there. the 39 and 4 mercs look pretty cool too
Thanks for all the kind words. I acquired the Buffalos when I first started collecting. The 1913 was in a Gen4.1 holder at purchase. I've thought about it upgrading a point, but 65 to 66 isn't much of a step up for this issue. Anyway I'm happy with it for type. I like how the photo brings out the textured fields.
@ShadyDave Yes! That toning has similar color and pattern. I wonder if it's simply album toning.
Here's three in the set I'm building. With the two non-FB Philly dimes above, I believe that is a full house.
Really like all the Mercs. displayed here.
I do like the TrueViews. PCGS does a nice job with these. And... beautiful coins.
Great TrueViews. In our day of our collections being encased in safe deposit boxes, TrueView images give us a means of continually enjoying our coins. But I wonder how many coins have multiple cert nos. as they have been TV'd, cracked, and then TV'd with a new cert no. Especially a problem with Registry Set Population.
OINK
Great coins!!
I think TrueViews are the greatest thing to come out of the last 10 years.
(Specifically PCGS's TV's)
In the next 10, I think provenance will be the greatest thing for security & peace of mind.
It will eliminate duplicate TV's, Cert numbers & aid with counterfeit/doctoring identification.
Provenance will take a big leap when TV pics can be scanned and coins identified via software.
BTW PlanetSteve....Great coins/pics
Like the Mercs
My Saint Set
I also believe that the 13 is under graded. The strike is exceptional! Compare it to the 1938-D. No comparison, with the 38-D even at a point higher.
The 13 has a three dimensional tail, while the 38-D does not.
It just might be CAC time.

Very nice group of TVs.
I am enjoying the view.....
Sometimes, it’s better to be LUCKY than good. 🍀 🍺👍
