Maybe there is something there
COINS MAKE CENTS

I recently purchased and estate from a lady and these 2 coins puzzled me. She had them labeled "ghost d" I looked at them and thought they were weird because it does infact look like there is a very weak d there! Could these be Denver dies that they took the d off to use in philly? I told her I wanted to ask about these 2 coins before I bought them. If I'm just seeing things then they are just a cent each but my eyes do see a D. What say you?

I see what you're seeing...but I think it's a stretch to say there's actually a D there.
Others may disagree.
I would chalk it up to the plating issues on modern cents. Or die transfer either or I would agree on that “stretch”
My Dealer friend said it best. He told me when I too questioned a sighting on a coin once. He told me I see what I WANNA see! When in reality, nothing really there.
If anything, try turning the '99 over on it's reverse and see if the "AM" in America is separated. If so, you have a even better find in the popular 1999 Wide AM Variety. Big money!
"Jesus died for you and for me, Thank you,Jesus"!!!
--- If it should happen I die and leave this world and you want to remember me. Please only remember my opening Sig Line.I don't see a " D ". Sorry.
I clearly see a D on the '99 cent.... Is that the one that came in a mint set? It was talked about for a while at the time, then it seemed to fade away.... I have a set with that one.... will have to pull it out. Cheers, RickO
The "D" remnants don't look like the right shape for a MM. The 1999 has other marks under the date and the 1997 looks like it has some die deterioration doubling in the date and possibly a raised circular area, similar to a rim ridge that runs through Lincoln and the area in question. Zincoln cents are known to have lots of plating problems and adding a worn die to the mix indicates to me that it's not a D mm. Just my opinion
