Hi, I am fairly new to collecting. I favor errors. I recently bought a 1981 proof set and realized it was type 2. Still sealed in plastic, i thought this was a chip in plastic but upon closer look - i saw this. At.first i thought was 2 indentations...it is but inside the indentations are raised/embossed "S's". I do not have much money and wanted the thought from the professionals

Inside the top dent there are 2 S shapes inside each other. 1 inside lower 1. Did not see this error reported anywhere in my research

I cant give you a direct answer.
But what I can say, "dont un wrap it"
    Others can direct you otherwise.
    Cool!

Would need to see full pictures of the reverse to help identify the cause of what you are seeing. As well as a full picture of the obverse

squiggly lines are sometimes the result of another coin edge (reeding) hitting the coin

You will need much sharper photos of "errors". That said, it is unlikely that the "error" you show will be of much interest to the "market" as it appears to be very minor, whatever it actually is. MY OWN guideline for errors worth bothering with is simple:

    1. If you need magnifications to see it it isn't likely to be of any importance.
    2. If you have to wonder about it it isn't likely to be of any importance.

Some online sites seems to be promoting the hunt for minor "errors" by giving the impression to new collectors that there is big money to be made in them. Most minor "errors" command little if any premium. Ask sellers what they are PAYING for such errors, not what they are SELLING them for.

Major "errors" are a different ballgame. There is a real market for those.

    All glory is fleeting.

I would like to see the obverse and reverse of the coin without the blur.

@Burbler123....Welcome aboard.... Those pictures are too blurry for any real conclusions....That being said, the anomalies appear to be die chips.... We need better pictures to offer more conclusive answers. Cheers, RickO
