I have these two 1904 20’s. Both are 63, which one do you find nicer looking?
This isn’t to bash a grading service, I genuinely am curious as to the opinions on this.
I know the pictures aren’t equal, but they generally show them as they look in hand.

By those photos, I like obverse of the PCGS and the reverse of the NGC. I’d take the PCGS though.

The obverse of the first example looks very busy to the right of Liberty’s nose, on her upper central cheek and to the right of her mouth. Give me the second coin, please.

I couldn’t live with the marks on the face of the PCGS coin.
The NGC63 has cleaner surfaces. I hate contact marks.

I grade them both type near melt but the NGC coin if my money.
If you are looking find one in a fatty or higher grade. You can almost always find them around the same price. The spread for the 1904 is very small up to 64 and 65 are out there too although a little more $$$$ due to the overall rarity of the series in gem

Door #2, but I would stretch a bit for a higher grade coin. 1904 $20 Libs are supposed to come real nice.
I'll take em both off your hands. Congrats!

The NGC coin appears to have better surface quality and luster....Cheers, RickO
I agree with Ricko.

Well this poll shows me my gut was right.
I found it has less bag marks, better luster and a better strike...
I want a 65 eventually, but was finding this 63 to be bothersome, I was liking it less and less. My friend had this NGC one come in yesterday and let me swap even. It was an upgrade eye appeal wise and didn't cost anything to trade.
I'm much happier with the new one.
