Has anyone seen these before or know the real story? I have several that I bought from an attorney in Oklahoma in 2006 and know there may still be an open litigation as to there legitimacy. The United Cherokee Nation (UCN) halted production on the 1 Adela coin after only a few had reached the open market. The rim has a numbered edge and a fineness stamp. There is a USNS-CNA-C-001 number.

Interesting information, thanks for sharing !!!
I own a few of those and the 1980 and 1989 dated coins that were issued by someone else claiming to be representative of the Cherokee Nation. None of these "coins" were ever sanctioned by the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma. BTW there are now small change fantasies being sold on eBay by sellers in Europe.
This I do know, the 2000 dated Adela coins are a lot scarcer than the 1980 and 1989 dated coins - they don't oft turn up for sale - perhaps the lawsuit has something to do with that.
SaorAlba,
What is the number stamped on the edge of your Adela coin?
The 1980 Proof 50 Eagles coins are really striking to look at. There are slight differences in the silver pieces; some with the 925 fineness markings and some without. Mr. Moschetti (WPNA) said they were made by a mint in Germany and reportedly were made in silver, gold, brass and CU/NI/ZN alloy. The 1980 pieces I have are about 41+mm in Dia.
The 1989 50 Eagles silver proof is probably not from the German mint because of different lettering and a diameter closer to 39mm. Just a guess on my part.
I have the 1980 type without the fineness stamp but it is also has the "1 Oz. Fine Silver" stamp. The weight is 23.14 grams so it could be the CU/NI/ZN or Argentan alloy? Surprisingly, another 1980 coin with identical markings weighs 31+ grams. The brass 1980 coins are also stamped with/without fineness markings.
An interesting mystery with different interpertations, imho. All the coins are beautiful proofs and very nice looking.
