FUN Preview

As requested earlier today, here's a look at a couple of coins from the Perfection Witter Collection that will be displayed during our PCGS Luncheon at FUN. The first one you may have seen on our Facebook and/or Instagram. The 1866 is one we have yet to share! There will be another set of coins at the luncheon, so keep an eye out for that preview in the coming days.

Definitely high grade coins.... the strike detail is excellent, as would be expected of proofs. One wonders how they were kept so well over 150 years....Cheers, RickO

Beautiful coins! Thanks for posting them. They should be a treat to behold. I love looking at these old coins so it's great to see them here and know they will be displayed at the Luncheon!

When looking up the coins, it's interesting to note the CoinFacts list the pedigree as both "Perfection 11" Collection and "Mr. Perfection 11" Collection (PCGS Set Registry). Anyone know what the "11" is for?

The 1867 is formerly from the San Diego Collection which was purchased by Pinnacle Rarities in 2011 as mentioned in these two articles, the first with a specific reference, by Dan Duncan. The 1867 is a stand out as both articles feature the coin as its top photo. It was recently graded / regraded as the article is from 2011 and PCGS started plus grading in 2010.

It's also worth mentioning that the The Perfection Witter Collection is the current and all-time Registry Set #1 ranked set for the set. This set was a certificate award winner in 2013, gold award winner from 2014-2018 and a platinum award winner in 2019.
