The #1 Set in the Registry
or
The #3 set in the Registry
that you know would bring at least 20% more

At what point(s) in time would the #3 set bring at least 20% more?
If the #3 set were chosen, could the (at least 20% more) proceeds be used to purchase set #1? 😉

A: The year they spend more on their library than their coin collection.
A numismatist is judged more on the content of their library than the content of their cabinet.
The one with more eye appeal.

I am not a registry competitor .... but I might like a couple of the coins.... Which registry?? Cheers, RickO
I assume that would be set #3.

My Washington Quarter Registry set...in progress
The one I liked the most for a price that was acceptable to me and reasonable for the current market.
I think I know what you’re getting at....
When I was paying attention to the top peace dollar sets there were plenty of coins at higher grades that I didn’t like as much as the ones I already had. This was true of entire sets too, but almost every set had at least a few coins that I would have gladly traded for.
It would be interesting if PCGS allowed voting on Registry Sets, which would allow for point winners and popularity winners.
Regarding differences in the sets, it could be white coins vs. toned coins given recent conversations.
I'd have to see the sets in question. My preferences are sometimes different than PCGS's or the general market's.
For me, it's not about which one would bring more money or is ranked higher. It's about which coins connect to me more, which would ideally be ranked higher and worth more
It’s quite possible that the lower rated set could contain more nice-for-the-grade and/or eye-appealing coins. It’s just that it would also contain some lower graded coins and/or be less complete, etc.
