You have not made clear the coin in question, but I will assume the coin 'that belongs to your friend' is the coin in the brown album.
The differences are the result of some usage and a fair amount of wear on the coin in the brown album. Things that happened after the coin left The Mint. The coins you are comparing it to are simply nicer examples.
The longer I look at the coin in the brown album, the more wear that I see.
