Wandered Into Wayne Miller Coins Today

In Montana to do some skiing and the opportunity presented itself. Not quite what I expected: very few coins on display but a riot of boxes, coins and activity in the large space behind the counter. A couple of friendly gentlemen who were happy to leave me with all three DBLCs on offer (not attributed because there is “little interest in Montana”). I guess my sons and I weren’t perceived as a security risk!
I’m not a silver dollar collector but there was still a “pilgrimage” feel to the visit.
Edited to add that one of the “friendly gentlemen” was Wayne himself.

Great book. Last place where something so special happened in the 50s to 70s.
I loved Wayne’s first dollar book. When I went to the ANA to start their grading service, I was very disappointed when he became our biggest critic. I wanted to use him as a consultant, but he was totally against what is now called third party grading.
Is he still selling his Morgan and Peace Dollar Textbook?

Where were you skiing? Wayne has been a family friend longer than I have been around. Bought many coins from him over the years.
The shop he had for years just down the street was tiny compared to this one. Many times you could hardly move around in it.
We're really on our way to Bozeman but we did spend a day up at Great Divide. It's never going to threaten Big Sky but it's a nice little hill.

Coin shops can be interesting.... or disappointing.... Saw both types when I lived in WA state....wish I had even a disappointing one around here....Cheers, RickO
Been dry in Bozeman (although it rained on New Years day). Hope the snow on the mountain is good for you.
So what are DBLC's? (Hate to sound dumb, but not the first time!

Wayne Miller is one of Montana's most charitable citizens. His charity work helps many of Montana's homeless . He's known for his silver dollar expertise but his legacy in Helena will always be his philanthropy. One of a kind!
Oh sure, I should have figured that out that myself.

I've never met him, but I did call him once after I read one of his books. My question was about the prevalence of toned Morgans and Peace dollars today versus what he recalls "back in the day." We had a great conversation. He was quite gracious on the phone and it was an interesting call. I get up that way once in a while. I'll have to stop by the shop next time.
Had a hot chocolate with Wayne and his wife about 5 weeks ago. I had done numerous deals with him but had never met him
He is a gentleman
He come over to my office and we finished up a deal
It was great to met an icon in person
