A state of the union if you will.....

Hello and Happy New Year,

What a year it has been at PCGS! I am humbled to be serving as president and am proud of all that the PCGS team has accomplished since I began my role at the company in January. Just as I was arriving in Southern California, we launched our PCGS Set Registry Achievement program – a very exciting enhancement to our long-running PCGS Set Registry. In March, we unrolled an improved submission tracking system. The following month we unveiled our wildly popular Quarter Quest 2019 program, awarding prizes and incentives to collectors who submitted first examples of the 2019-W America the Beautiful Quarters.

Over the summer, after listening to customer feedback, we expanded the Prooflike (PL) designation to include a significantly wider range of U.S. vintage coinage. We also continued perfecting many other areas ranging from our customer service department to the grading and submissions process to serve you better and more efficiently.

As with every new product or service we embark on, our goal with the improvements we’ve made in 2019 is to provide what our customers are looking for based on the invaluable feedback they give us. That’s why we always encourage anyone who has a new idea or something they wish to see us tweak to please let us know. We care, and we’re listening. As we continue enriching our commitment to the numismatic community, we see that 2019 was a year of tremendous growth for our company, but that’s just the beginning.

Our 34th year as the premier third-party numismatic grading service will see the launch of the new PCGS Banknote grading service, which will provide those who collect and deal in paper money with a suite of services for authentication and grading. We are particularly excited about this new service because it will recement PCGS as the leading third-party certification service for paper money and help fill a major need in the diverse paper money community.

The new year will also mark the launch of our first foray into Near Field Communication (NFC) chip technology to create a more secure coin holder. This new initiative, the first of its kind in numismatics at scale, is just one of many innovations we are embarking on at PCGS to continue providing coin collectors and dealers with the safest, most advanced third-party grading services around. Additionally, the launch of the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame Basketball coin is much anticipated, and we plan many special events and features in conjunction with our exclusive partnership as the official grading service of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

These ongoing investments in our company and our customers will only further ensure that our ever-expanding client base continues choosing us for all of their third-party collectibles certification service needs. Although we are investing much time, talent, and treasure into the service expansions and enhancements we’ve unrolled in 2019 and are about to unveil in 2020, there will be no price increases on any base service fees at PCGS.

The only changes to our U.S. coin submission form is the addition of a 1% GP surcharge on successful Regrades (similar to Reconsiderations and Crossovers) and some reductions in maximum insurance value of some service tiers. I believe the major overhauls we are making at PCGS are well worth this minor change in specialty pricing as we move ahead into 2020 and beyond.

It’s my hope that these ongoing expansions of our products satisfy our most important asset: you as a customer. The new year looks bright. With all of us working together toward the common goal of providing the best collectibles certification services in the industry, PCGS is poised to have a very successful 2020. We also wish you a prosperous 2020 and look forward to serving you in the new year and beyond.

Fondly,

Brett Charville
President, PCGS

Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......
