Eye appeal is an individual taste.... sure, we can get segments of collectors to agree that certain characteristics are appealing... and others are not. However, even among those that agree on the generality, there will be those that disagree on specific items within said category. Much like art or personal comeliness...we do not all find the same features appealing....That is precisely why eye appeal should never be considered as part of coin grading. Grade specifics...i.e. marks, rub, luster, wear, strike.... all fine, but eye appeal is totally nebulous. We cannot even agree and set standards for grading, how in the H E double hockey stick can we define and standardize eye appeal?? Cheers, RickO

Your post makes sense to me. I guess it's just like proper usage of some numismatic terms - seems some don't really care. LOL.

    Something that will sell:

No spots or dark toning. No major marks or awful gouges.

I really like Ricko's reply: we are in the realm of the subjective here, individual tastes may vary.

These are just a few examples of how I think circ silver "should" look. I also like some a bit darker, and some a bit lighter.
