American Eagle 2020 One Ounce Silver Proof Coin will be $64.50 Up 15.3% from 2019 ($55.95)
National Park of American Samoa 2020 Uncirculated Five Ounce Silver Coin will be $178.25 Up 15.0% from 2019 ($154.95)

Lower and Lower Mintages, Higher and Higher Prices, More and More Gimmicks, and Fewer and Fewer Customers…

With the exception of common ASE's I have no interest in any of the modern stuff, so no big deal from my POV.

I would say if it’s not for my grand baby I would not really care. But then when I review my total purchases for last year I spent way more than I normally would. I guess the mint did a good marketing job with some of their products.
Will I continue? Right now I say no but in reality time will tell. The Apollo 11, Rocket Man, 5 Oz puck ect and all the other good marketing strategies , sucked me right in.

Is this due to increasing the Ag content to 99.9?

They make the money worth less by charging more. As to the hobby ... it was always more costly than face or melt value.

No, the coins mentioned have always been 0.999.

Also, a 0.999 blank at today's prices has less than $2 more silver than a 0 9 blank

    2) the price increase on the P pucks is just lame....guess there will be more "keys" created by price

Just received an email that I have just qualified for free shipping for this year (2020). Haven’t bought anything, yet.

But the free shipping is not that great... though Fedex is supposed to go to free weekend deliveries.

According to the BLS inflation calculator, $32 currently has the same buying power as $5.06 in 1971, when a five-coin clad proof set cost $5. How many coins will be in the 2020 set?

I'd say the 1971 proof set was overpriced. I understand your point but consider both examples I gave to be very poor values at the current retail price. It's cheap for most members of this forum if they want either but buying both probably accounts for at least 20% of the typical US collector's annual numismatic budget.

There are many other coins that are much better values, especially from non-US coinage. The proof set is a guaranteed money loser going by the history of prior sets. The proof ASE, don't know but seems expensive to me for such a common coin.

Yes I can’t believe the Mint charged me $66 for that 2019 reverse proof silver silver eagle that I had to sell for many multiples of that original price.

New Pricing has just been announced for the Platinum Proof coins ( I assume Gold and Palladium will be Following when the time comes)

New Pricing UP $175.00 PER OUNCE over current matrix pricing…

    $950.00 to $999.99 range went from $1,370.00 to $1,545.00…

I was a voracious purchaser of most all things USMint....until a few years back. They (a) priced me out, (b) kept being screwy with their 'limited' items and the website problems, (c) would cancel things midway through (SHQs and stamps, etc), and (d) made way too many variations of things like the ASEs. Sorry, but I wanted to be complete and, once they made so many in a year that being complete was way too expensive for what it was (1oz silver, same design just different MM or finish or packaging), they drove me away.

I think I went from, stupidly, spending $1000+/yr, as a collector (more in the times I bought certain things to flip...some years, upwards of $5000+), to <$100/yr now. Not sure if I even bought anything last year. Didn't buy the proof ASE (let that drop about 1-2 years ago), didn't buy mint sets (let those drop a couple of years ago), didn't buy either type of proof sets (about 2 years ago was last time as well), etc.

Of course, what will happen is that they will chase away the majority of collectors of normal means and then, the sales figures/mintages will plummet, people will freak and want in, and people will buy up the following year expecting a big return.

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

With metal prices down, this should make for a slow sales year for the mint. I would say low mintage potential, but they will be selling these for the next 2+ years so probably not .

“American Eagle Gold Proof 1oz. UP $297.50”

Backdated Proof gold (and proof Buffalo gold for that matter) sells by the oz at about $100 or so over spot. Give or take. The Mint had been selling it for $300-$400 over spot for the past so many years. Now, it is $600-$700++ an Oz. Over spot. How can I produce any slabbed coins? Will collectors pay $700++ over spot for a 69 grade coin? Will they even pay this for a 70 grade coin? At over $2400 asking price from the mint, plus grading fees, a slabbed coin needs to start at about $2500 (in any grade) to break even. This, as compared to around $1,900 or so last year. I guess I’ll watch from the sidelines.

    Just my 2 cents.

If anything, the US Mint should temporarily REDUCE the price of ATB Quarter bags and rolls. Because of the coin shortage and issues with banks in my area because of COVID, I've been ordering S mint 2019 ATB Quarter bags to fulfill my need for Quarters to spend. I'm sure there must be others out there who must be contemplating getting bags of Quarters for the US Mint to use in their business or for the laundry.
