it looks like another number. took the best pics I could

    It looks like an SJ mintmark. Must be one of those elusive coins from the San Jose mint. :D

    Die chip or damage. It isn't possible to be sure without better photos of the entire obverse.

    Yes, it's not an S/S, but a die flaw.
