just got this today, the coin has toning on it but also a odd imprint any ideas what it could be?

Nice coin. The full bands designation came about I thought through Harold Kritzman, correct me if I'm wrong.
Most collectors pass over non-FB Mercury dimes.
Lint mark perhaps?

It’s hard to tell from the pic but my first thought is a die clash.

My guess is a planchet flaw, like the start of a delamination. Don't take this the wrong way, I'm happy you like the coin but that color looks more like old dip residue that wasn't fully rinsed, and I really don't like the look of the reverse with the spots and green stuff.

Could be a die clash....but if you are returning it, then it is moot....Those spots were strange though... Cheers, RickO
