    Mexican Caps and Rays 8 reales dated 1863 and before are very different birds than Caps and Rays 8 reales dated 1867 or 1868 and later. Later coins should be collected in nicer condition. There is more condition leeway for collecting the earlier coins.

    You saying the earlier dates are fewer in high grade
