Brees has to throw and throw and throw some more for the entire second half
maybe Drew Brees has to do that, but he still doesn't pass much more than Tom Brady, actually less than one attempt/game. that's astonishing. overall for their careers, Tom Brady and Drew Brees are fairly close with regard to attempts, average/year and completion percentage. actually, if we throw out 2008 for Brady they are almost equal.
Tom Brady, 20 years --- 9,926 --- 496 --- 63.8%
Tom Brady absent 2008 --- 9,915 --- 521 --- 63.8%
Drwe Brees, 19 years --- 10,093 --- 531 --- 67.6%
Drew Brees actually has more TD passes than Brady, again throwing out 2008 where Brady had 11 attempts and no TD's, Brees is the leader over their 19 years --- 541-538. looked at realistically when considering which of these two QB's is better, we shouldn't hold it against Drew Brees since he doesn't have the SB victories, a Team accomplishment. he has done his part during the regular season, the equal of Tom Brady.
sure they matter, did I say otherwise?? all I'm saying is that it is a Team game and Drew Brees has performed almost identically to Tom Brady during the regular season. you seem to be saying that Tom Brady is superior during the regular season because his Team won more Super Bowls. it's probably more accurate to say the New England Patriots were superior to the New Orleans Saints.
I just don't always view the greatness of players in Team games by the number of Championships their Teams won. two of the best examples for me in the NFL are Gale Sayers and Barry Sanders. there are a lot of Running Backs who won more Championships than either of those two who aren't really qualified to carry their jock strap.

you can say Brees has performed almost identically to Brady during the regular season, but you have forgotten about the context. Brees has played over half of his career indoors under perfect conditions. Brady has played 95% of his career outdoors. this is a huge consideration. While it is impossible to compare across sports, it seems similar to me as the Coors field advantage and pitching in dodger stadium during the 1960's.
for this reason, their similar stats are really not all that similar
Don't get all defensive @keets ……..I didn't say you did, but some out here do. Also it's really laughable when I hear people say that Aikman and Bradshaw are overrated because they were on great teams. Well guess what......they still had to do their job and get it done, which they did because they were both great QB's.

aikman is better than bradshaw, he had to win without eating a fistful of speed before every game

Brady has had MUCH better players to throw to for MANY more seasons. Better coaching too.
Indoors looks easier, but you can't simply pick out one factor and ignore the rest.
I would say better receivers matters too. Gronk and Welker will be HOFers along with Moss (yes, Randy only played with Brady for 3 seasons). Between those three guys that's 18 seasons of passing to HOF caliber players.
How many guys who played with Brees will make the HOF? NONE? Let's say Jimmy Graham makes it he played with Brees for 4 seasons.
Hard to have Super Bowl victories if your team/coach/ownership isn't good enough to help you get there. Look at the "Dynasty" teams they ALL had great coaches. Lombardi, Knoll, Landry, Shula, Walsh, and now Belichik.
I don't really have an argument that says Brady couldn't be the GOAT, but their are others who were right there with him. Brees and Manning to name two.

Aikman was a very good QB.
Bradshaw was just a little better than Terry Hanratty. Great arm and receivers and one of the best defenses of all time. Bradshaw is prolly the MOST over rated QB EVER! From 1970-76 he only completed over 50% of his passes TWICE.

looking at "splits" for both QB's gives some interesting insight. in some ways, Brady has been better on the road, throwing for more yards and more TD's with an almost identical yards/attempt ratio. sort of weird.
Drew Brees has been better at home, but not as significantly as you'd think. he has thrown more TD's at home and less interceptions, but again, on average the two aren't that much different.
I'm not sure why being called a stat padder is a bad thing - it's not like he's padding his stats for interceptions or yards lost, presumably the stats he's padding are beneficial to the team...

completion numbers ? Is it really that comforting to lose to a team over and over and then say our QB completed a higher percentage of passes? in yet another loss in a string of many
Individual stats in a team game are more important than wins? I didn't realize your state had legalized weed
Brady has the worst completion numbers in the league this year but the team is 11-3 , all he needs is a few good games and we win another superbowl.
Look at passer stats and you will see probably 10 QB's with higher % that are on teams that won't be in the playoffs , that is completely worthless
Peyton manning won his last ring in a season he couldn't throw at all . And yet he topped all the stats for years , ask him if he would rather keep the rings or some useless records

Now the only people who get an opinion is if their team wins a championship.
Sometimes you're funny, sometimes you're and idiot.
Guess what category that post goes in?
Discussion is who's the better PLAYER, not who's team is better, so yeah individual stats are what we look at when sober.

have you noticed that since the forum fix a year or two ago getting things to format at all is nearly impossible?
2 steps forward 1 step back
Drew Brees is the NFL GOAT, prove me wrong.
ETA: Purdue for life! @cpamike
Yes, I had it all nice and orderly and then I pressed post...
George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.
Can't be done.
I can’t prove your wrong but tell me why You say he is the GOAT.
I believe, i said, prove me wrong Brady r[[[ ;
Who dat?
He's had more losing records (3) in just the last six years than Tom Brady has had total (0).
When he actually had to pay outdoors more than once every other year (in SD), he was meh outside of one year.
He's lost 48 more games than Brady in just 9 fewer starts.

ya they are the same exact guy except for those unimportant SB wins and victories
