Well, two-thirds of the six steps are showing! I could not refuse this one as well as that 1942 Type1 Off-Center I posted earlier. I know off-center coins usually have nice steps, but I have never seen a 1969-D with steps even close to this one.
Thanks for looking, happy hunting and Merry Christmas.

I don't quite get the whole fascination about error coins. Not my thing. But if you like it o.k. by me. And I do find something appealing about this one. I can see that it is a genuine mint error. Not like 99.9% of the other "errors" that we are subjected to by well meaning newbies with all those photos. OH BROTHER!! Question; Why do posters with 1 post count post the most photos? What's up with that? ......As Marcellus said to Horatio, "Something is rotten in the state of Denmark." Ya' think? !?!?!
You would probably be surprised how error coins really light up non-collectors eyes. They are only use to seeing regular struck coins and these mint errors are fasinating to them.

Some folks are of the opinion that the ultra rarities among full-step Jeffs are so exceedingly difficult to find because the dies just did not have the required definition in the first place. The OP coin certainly refutes that myth!
I believe that the off center strike can allow for well defined details that might not show up on the normally struck coin. Something about the flow of metal. EOC might be able to explain.
I have a roll of those 69-d full step nickels if you want one Dawg.
Shag....send me you best one! I'll buy you a dog and coke at the FU Show for it!
This one graded MS63. Grade is not too much of a factor for this one.
The 2nd step from bottom is broken. No FS.
Why settle for ordinary when you can have extraordinary? Nice Jefferson!

Off center coins are common with FS and in the case of Mercury Dimes, FB.
The TPGs do not label them as FS or FB because most of the coins that are off-center and show that part of the design are fully struck.
The unstruck part of the planchet allows for
more striking pressure on the area of the coin that is struck.
Man-o-man! Cut me no slack!
While I do not collect errors, I do find them interesting...and good to research how they can happen in the minting process....There sure are some weird errors out there. That is why I purchased the book "100 Greatest Error Coins" ...Cheers, RickO
Love 'dem Errors! Nice Jeffy. Also looks like doubling on the reverse. The O in "Monticello" as well as, the A in "America". Thanks for posting.
