REA sold one for $168,000 last night. Kicking myself for not buying one a few years ago when I had a chance.

holy cow! those are some amazing prices. I wonder what 9's will go for now. you know, a rising tide raises all boats

HA PSA 10 was pretty much the last time they will sell a 10 before he gets in so I wasn't surprised by that sale.

As mentioned, with the record sale of the 10, the 9's will certainly increase as we approach announcement date. I expect the 9 to go as much as 7K the day of announcement.

I love seeing modern cards bring big money. I remember when I first joined this forum people thought $6,400 was too high.

Here's the thing, though. No one, and I mean literally not a single person, is going to wake up some time next month and say "Jeter was elected to the Hall of Fame! I need to get his rookie card." Not a single person will be surprised. The only question will be the margin. On the other hand, there were a lot of people who must have said something similar about Harold Baines.

The pop in price should be proportional to the surprise.

Looks like some parts of the modern market are hot as well.

Wow on both of those sales! That might explain why several listings I was watching on eBay ended the last couple of nights (sealed boxes and high-grade BIN PSA's)

  • Oh I think there will be a ton of people that are too busy to be heavily involved in the everyday pricing and market of cards that will see the voting and buzz of Jeter when he is elected and will dive in and buy a psa 9 within minutes since they just have to have one since they think it might double quickly. If you don’t follow things and just buy hall of famers then you buy on Election Day for whatever the price is that day
