From the quantity of eBay listings and the Heritage emails and the boatloads of US coins coming from Europe and Venezuela, it sure appears that a WHOLE BUNCH of folks ...ignored... the 1933 "call-in."
And the foreign bullion banks who knew the US was so stupid as to sell actual potential collectibles for gold weight sure nailed it.
Good for all of em.

Good, rational thinking... I wonder if there are any 1933 Gold Double Eagles finding the way back to the U.S.? According to Wikipedia there were a few (20?) that were pilfered. Cheers, RickO
Always good to think, that's how we continue moving forward and not backwards.
I too am glad many held back these gems in lieu of paper or even boring ole generic gold bars. I love my pre 33 coins.
The whole worlds off its rocker, buy Gold™.

No doubt this was a hold out in 1933:

Looking at the antique shops around here (there are several), it is interesting that I see lots of silver coins (even some slabbed one's), but no gold coins...large, small or foreign....Strange. Cheers, RickO
