You could make it mine 😁
I couldn't buy you a Xmas present that would need to be acetoned and reholderd to remedy
How can you tell from those s*** photos?
The cloudiness and haze is usually the giveaway.
You can see a watery type surface color difference on the date on the obverse and putty hazing over in the reverse left fields.

Why didn't the TPG pick up on that?
@Tibor PCGS probably missed this because it takes a while for putty to rear its ugly head.
That said, I SURE wish I was a numismatic authority just like Karl D. Hirtzinger. Maybe someday ...
PCGS has taken care of puttied coins in the past. There are some good posts on this here in the past.
I thought so too , until I learned that Mr. Karl was involved with Tom Noe (and maybe not even a real person).

It's not visible until it turns later.
What kind of putty?
I've never puttied a coin but I've read that Bondo or similar car body repair putty is dissolved in alcohol or some other solvent and then painted onto the coin surface to hide hairline scratches and light wear. The putty is essentially invisible until a few months later when it turns to a milky chalky haze on the surface of the coin.
Worry is the interest you pay on a debt you may not owe.
I wished there is a "before and after" pictures of this very coin ....... after deep cleaning
Putty doesn't hinder gold in anyway as it's inert it's just hides marks to make the coin seem of higher grade.
Once removed many end up in the same grade holder again as it really didn't hide much of anything.
With a coin like this it's just a shame as the roughly 25 year OGH is lost.
Such a shame.... The haze manifestation is fairly obvious even in those pictures....I would like to see it once cleaned..but not worth the investment to satisfy curiosity. Cheers, RickO
Would a UV light spotlight the putty?
Coin Doctors suck.

No sticker for you.

Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......
This is the first CAK coin I've seen - Certificate of Authenticity by Karl
I've never had a puttied PCGS certified gold coin that doesn't dip out nicely and grade at the same or higher level. A guarantee submission could take months to come back.
I'm trying to understand the putty. Wouldn't there be a huge luster break in the puttied areas?
