Jefferson Nickel 1964 SMS - Two on ebay! Amazing!
Amazing! Two raw 1964 SMS Jeffersons listed on ebay! Chances are pretty slim these are actually SMS examples, but let's try to evaluate if legitimate.
First, this seller has sold 2 items and has a starting bid of $2,000. Returns are accepted, but would you really get your money back if this is a proof? This example appears to be too proofy. I don't see that satiny look as the ones pictured in Coin Facts.
Second, this seller has a good number of sales, does not accept returns and is expecting someone to fork out over $15,000! Yeah right! This one is definitely a proof.

Me being a Jefferson guy, I'd love to jump on a legitimate 1964 SMS. For one of these, it would have to be a PCGS certified example. I keep dreaming!

Anyone who buys such a coin raw should not be allowed to return it.
Feedback of two on the first, no thanks!
Both are obviously proofs.
Shady sellers IMO.
I thought ebay prohibited ungraded coins over $2500.
Oh, I see...seller lied and said it was ICG-graded (even though he described it as raw in the description).
Lance.
Edit: Nuked.
Wow those are some spendy nickels. Glad I stop buying after a C note, if even.
They look like proofs....and way to expensive....Cheers, RickO
I’m sure it’s nothing, as I have no real working knowledge of Jeff nickels, but I’ve always thought this one is interesting......maybe this date is known for PLs?
Walkerguy21D - Above average looking 1964-D, however not uncommon. 1964 was the first year over 1 billion coins were strike by the Mint. This is true for both the 1964 (Philly) and 1964-D. You need to find a coin with this nice eye appeal with full steps to claim a victory! Keep hunting.
Thanks BigD!
Since I’ll never be able to own a real ‘64 SMS specimen, this will do for now.
Ha, both listings have been pulled. I wonder why!
Nice 64-D @Walkerguy21D .
Not rare in PL but not excessively common either.
Looks almost fully PL and would garner a modest premium as such.
(You may need some patience to find the right buyer though )
