What will you be doing for Thanksgiving?

I am looking forward to Thanksgiving this year, and I always enjoy hearing what other people are doing for Thanksgiving . As for myself, I will be eating Thanksgiving lunch with my in laws, and dinner with my side of the family. I'm dreading the inlaws visit. Having to sit there, and make conversation for hours with my in laws is a little rough. What will we talk about, for hours? They don't watch football, so that's out of the question. Oh, help me. Afterwards, I will jump in the car and burn rubber back home to eat Thanksgiving dinner with my side of the family. I'll be a little bit more comfortable, and I will have the TV on NFL the entire time. I'll probably go outside and toss the football around with some of the neighborhood kids for awhile, and talk sports with them. I also enjoy trying to get them into the hobby of card collecting, so I'll show them some cards and stuff. A few of them are becoming interested in the hobby. I purposely do not show them my Joe Louis cards. The less competition on Ebay, the better. Feel free to share where you will be on Thanksgiving.

I used to love when John Madden would call games on Thanksgiving, and he would give out his turducken award to the best players of the game afterwards. It was a combination of turkey, duck, and chicken. It was called a turducken.

Will be having thanksgiving with my side of the family this year (now that IS something to be thankful for!) And watching football. It's funny, I remember Madden in later years having a 6 legged turkey and bringing it down on the field after the game for the 6 best players of the game to each get a leg.

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.

Yes, it is the 6 legged turkey legs he used to give away after the game, not the turducken. It's been so long since I've seen Madden that I got mixed up. I miss John Madden calling games.

Matthew Stafford is injured, so of course they're not going to play as well without him, but I hope the game on Thanksgiving is competitive. I feel bad for Lions fans, I know it's frustrating.

Of course I always look forward to black friday every year as well. I usually go down to the mall on black friday and hang out. Take in a few fights. Maybe watch a shoplifter or two get hauled off in handcuffs. Shoppers are like Zombies trying to get in.

Wife preparing most of the meal. My folks coming over as well as my youngest son. My oldest son still lives with us, so we will have a nice get together. Thinking about clearing the ping pong table off and having some fun. Otherwise, just visiting and enjoying time with the family, watching football and enjoying the feast.

This years feast includes: Butterball turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, yeast rolls with butter on them, cranberry sauce, and a big, fat, juicy chocolate pie. I can't wait to dig in. I usually try to sneak a bite before it is done, and it always ends in the same way....

@doubledragon make sure you put some Turkey in the Joe Lewis room. I am sure Joe will be a little hungry.

Just me, the wife and the girls here this year. Most of the wife's family is going out of town. My family lives far away. I'll be cooking the meal. We're vegan, so our menu is a tad different, but also the same.

    Vegan seitan roast
    Stuffing
    Mashed potatoes
    Green beans
    Sweet potatoes
    Gravy
    Pumpkin pie
    Carrott cake

After that I'll watch my cowboys and let them stress me out. Hope you all have a wonderful thanksgiving!

We rented a cabin in Arkansas for a few days so the family could come together & meet halfway. We will eat, watch football, and shoot some guns - about as American as it gets. By the way I'm the only vegan in my family so I'm cooking for myself. Sucks.

By the way I loved John Madden & the turducken.

I'm all about that Jordan stuff. Cards, stickers, posters & whatever else is cool. The rarer the better. And always in a PSA 10 if I can help it.
Any other big Jordan nuts out there let me know.

Spending it with my mom and dad. They are getting up there in age, so it is always special not knowing when it may be the last. Meal time is always planned around the football schedule 🏈🍗🦃

We are going to have a relatively early meal around 1:00. That will be with my wife, kids and a handful of friends. After the friends go home, we are going to try a new tradition. I read somewhere about how the Dutch (I think the Dutch, but maybe someone else) essentially do a Secret Santa thing on Thanksgiving with books being the only possible gift. After opening, everyone sits around and reads. It is supposed to be cold and rainy on Thanksgiving (yes, we actually do get rain in San Diego on occasion), so I am dreaming of my wife, three kids and I sitting around the fireplace, drinking coffee or hot chocolate and reading books together. Hopefully it turns out as nicely as I am imagining it to be.

Todd Tobias - Grateful Collector - I focus on autographed American Football League sets, Fleer & Topps, 1960-1969, and lacrosse cards.

Thank you for the kind words. I do like to add a little humor to the forum. I'm just about to be transported to "the rock" (my mother in laws's house) to eat lunch. I dread it. Have a great Thanksgiving.

A friend of mine has a son that is #17 on the Bills so I'm looking forward to watching him vs Dallas in his first nationally televised game. They dont show the Bills in my neck of the woods. Go Josh!

Buffalo's fighting Bills are holding their own in Dallas right now. We'll see how it goes. Enjoy the game, it looks like a good one!

You said #17, holy smokes, that's Josh Allen, the quarterback for the Bills! He's having one heck of a game!

Al Michaels isn't calling the Thanksgiving game on NBC. Now I love me some Al Michaels, but I've never made it a secret that he reminds me of dracula.
