I just asked my 23 year old son what he wanted for Christmas

hchcoinhchcoin Posts: 4,825 ✭✭✭✭✭

And he said all he wants is a nice AU Indian Head Cent. Just made my day and I had to share. There is hope for this hobby :) . He sold his whole collection when he went off to school but kept an almost empty Indian Head Cent Dansco that he had just in case. Who said young people aren't collecting coins?

I was not expecting him to tell me that. Show me some nice AU Indians so I can get an idea of what he's looking for.

The only people who think us millennials and “zoomers” (gen z) don’t collect are the dinosaurs who are out of touch.

Glad to hear that you’ll be able to share time and the collecting hobby with your son.

I can't tell if he is a millennial or an iGen (gen z) since he is right on the edge. He made my day though asking for a coin.

Rick Snow @EagleEye has one of the dates he asked for on eBay that I just found :) plus I get eBay bonus bucks. This could turn out to be double awesome.

I would get him a really nice one then. One worth enough to not forget about ever.

Well, if anyone knows IHCs it's Rick Snow! This situation sounds very serendipitous!

BOTH father and son are quite fortunate!

I am going to get my dad a CC Morgan for Christmas. He is the one who got me started, decades ago, and he still maintains an interest.

It's REALLY special, when fathers and sons share in the hobby together.

I'm sincerely glad for you and your son.

Great news! Especially considering there’s only one thing I wanted at the age of 23 for all holidays. And non-holidays.

I love IHC's - good luck finding the right one. :+1: Here's an AU58+ I sold last year.

Nice coin but it's the wrong pic.

It’s great to have a son or daughter that shares the same passion about coins as you do. I’m lucky in that regard also.
    Enjoy it my friend😊

Good on your son. I wish there were more.

However, that does not appear to be the case: not my son nor ANY of his friends or classmates have shown even a whiff of interest despite over 5 years of continued trying to tempt and interest them, taking them to shows, Young Numismatists events, etc.
