PCGS, These late twenties branch mint issues are tough to grade. I believe the grade on the holder is consistent with current TPG standards

The strike seems a little week and there are a few spots on it possibly from contact with bits of debris. The background looks quite smooth and undisturbed aside from the spots. The tail has no detail on the end, it just blends into the bison the same with the ends of the feathers. There are a few contact marks on the raised areas. If it were a 1935 or 1936 I would give it a 60.

My guess is MS64, but regardless of the assigned grade, the spots kill it for me.

I do not care for the spots or the drab gray coloring....just a personal preference....Cheers, RickO

    AU 58

Looks like a weak strike to me and/or maybe even some circulation. I gave it a 58.

MS65 with some spotting issues and a somewhat weak strike.

I was thinking 64 if not for the spots... that pulled me back to 63...

You're right though... branch mint Buffs are really tough to grade...

Thanks everyone for participating in the poll.

MS 63 on the holder. I like the coin in hand. It has luster and color that jumps out first, add some magnification and the pesky flecks / spot issue is revealed.

Pretty decent over all for the grade / date / mm.

Typical strike for a 27-D. In reality, the 27-D is not far behind the 1926-D for bad strike qualities.

There are no fully struck specimens found to date.
