Eric P. Newman used to own some of these. Was at an ANA convention having dinner with some fellow numismatists years ago, and one of them told a story about visiting Eric to do some research and when he got to Eric's house Eric insisted on having tea on the veranda first to chat. When they finished chatting and were about to go into the house, Eric told him to turn the spoon over. BRASHER!
This is kinda cool. How much are these worth?

Price?
What is your asking price for the spoon?? And where in NC are you? (my daughter lives in NC)....Cheers, RickO
I live just outside of Raleigh, NC. I am asking $1600.00 for the spoon and it is currently listed on ebay with more pictures. I will consider a direct trade for a 1 oz. gold Maple or Eagle. I have 3 matching spoons including the one shown in this post, along with another one marked EB twice. I collect old American silver and was directed to this forum by another collector who is an active member here.
Keep in mind that this spoon was made by hand before the age of electricity, central heating, modern tools and powered machines. If they worked at night it was by candlelight or oil lamps by the fire. Silver was somewhat scarce at that time and a silversmith might have to make their own silver blanks and melt down a few coins to have enough material to work with (hence the term "coin silver").
Another member here, Asheland, was kind enough to send me a link to a video showing how hand forged spoons are made (before engraving which is itself an art) and highlighting the work and craftsmanship involved. Take a look:

Wow that's a lot of work involved to make a hand forged spoon!!! Cool item thanks for posting!!!
Really cool video! Kinda hurts watching them take files to pretty decent looking spoons... but that finished product.. wow!
