This same NCIC email hit our inbox a couple days ago. Sorry to hear Ken got hit like that. He's a great guy and real ambassador for this hobby whose contributions cannot be overstated.
"I'll bet that Auto dollar will be headed over the pond so it can be placed in a collection far away from eyes that will recognize it"
I'm inclined to take that bet. By the sound of the report and what was taken, this sounds like lower end ignorant thieves that don't have overseas connections and were looking for things to quickly convert to cash. I'm betting it shows up at a reasonably nearby pawn shop or coin dealer.
My first thought was that they'll trash the awards, or scrap them if they have PMs. I just hope they are stupid enough to try to fence stuff with Ken's name on it.
They must have had a long time in the house.
Yeah, I'm so stupid I'm going to take this award off the wall rather something valuable to others. Here stupid, take all the stuff on the walls (except the Fractional Shield) and the gold jewelry but leave my coins.
I should think that any professional crook would know many of the names of famous people. We'll see when they are caught.

I'm in Nevada, next to California, and I think I'll head across the border for some free groceries.....
Sorry to hear about Ken's plight. Are there pics of the perps? Camera system?

I was stationed in beautiful CA for two years in the 1960's. Now I hear you need to watch out for the poop and needles.
Watch out for those hundred square feet.
Enjoy the other thousands of square miles 😉
Let's be honest; it's more than a hundred square feet. And it's not just under overpasses, which inexplicably are the only things the news channels seem to be able to photograph.
I enjoy a derailed thread as much as the next forum member, but many of the responses here are not only an insult to Mr. Bressett but to top tier numismatist CaptHenway as well.
If you cannot add any helpful thought or insight to the thread, it is best to close it and move on.
Plus 1 on Thieves going to Hallenbecks to cash out.
And I really feel for Ken B !!!!!!!!!!!!
This tragic and common property crime event really SUCKS !
Here in The Springs property theft seems to be a not enforceable crime...
Living in a nice un-gated hood here means you are actually living in an ATM which is frequented at 3am by our many local Meth-pires and Crack Heads. Lets not forget The Homeless and 20 something gangsters that occupy entire apartment complexes.

What a disturbing thread on so many levels. Most just can’t help themselves.
Tom thanks for bringing this to our attention.
EOC as a fishermen why take the bait? You should know better. Why debate with ignorant people? They will bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Please quote a post that you find insulting to Mr. Bressett. As for the Capt., most of us would never know about the robbery so soon without his notification.
PS As for crime in this country, we are going to look back on 2020 as the "Good Old Days."

According to my geography book, San Francisco for example is a little bigger than you have warned me about.

There was a reason Jesus had company on The Hill. Politics and religion aside.

I hope photos and cert numbers are forthcoming. It would be a lot easier to track those coins with that information.
Best wishes for Ken. I hope the coins find their way back to him but I also hope he's okay after having his residence burglarized like that.
Not like you to add to the maelstrom, Mark.

Hopefully, this forum should be exempt from that.
