40-S and 41-S are your most likely PL-ish Walkers, with a very occasional 42-S or 44-S in the mix.

    Very interesting and rarely seen.
I had, or may still have somewhere, a 36S that was somewhat PL.
This one also has some PL/cameo contrast hard to capture in a photo:

Successful BST transactions with 171 members. Ebeneezer, Tonedeaf, Shane6596, Piano1, Ikenefic, RG, PCGSPhoto, stman, Don'tTelltheWife, Boosibri, Ron1968, snowequities, VTchaser, jrt103, SurfinxHI, 78saen, bp777, FHC, RYK, JTHawaii, Opportunity, Kliao, bigtime36, skanderbeg, split37, thebigeng, acloco, Toninginthblood, OKCC, braddick, Coinflip, robcool, fastfreddie, tightbudget, DBSTrader2, nickelsciolist, relaxn, Eagle eye, soldi, silverman68, ElKevvo, sawyerjosh, Schmitz7, talkingwalnut2, konsole, sharkman987, sniocsu, comma, jesbroken, David1234, biosolar, Sullykerry, Moldnut, erwindoc, MichaelDixon, GotTheBug

PL Walkers are super nice....All my slabbed Walkers were entombed before the PL designation....and looking at them, none would get it now. Cheers, RickO

Love those PL's. I have a 42-S that I may have to try.

VERY tough and rare to get the PL designation. Usually, the sun on the obverse will hold the coin back from being fully PL. That is a NICE one with a VERY healthy price tag. I like them but not enough to spend that type of money---I'd rather put it towards an early Walker or key date SLQ. JMHO.

Sometimes, it’s better to be LUCKY than good. 🍀 🍺👍

Seeing as how it's apart from the fields, I wouldn't think the sun would be considered in a decision regarding a PL designation.

What you're saying makes sense but I've heard from several different sources that it is considered.

Maybe that's it.....I may have confused the two.

    Very nice👌🏻

Sorry, I don't care for it at all, especially at the moon money price. Of course Apmex can charge whatever they want, maybe someone will pony up.

And what are these PL's anyway? Could they simply be business strikes struck on a leftover proof planchet?

I've seen PL Walkers over the years. None were designated at the time but we all considered them PL. I don't know anything about what the PCGS OR NGC look for to get the PL designation; however, to the best of my memory, every PL Walker was PL all over as if someone polished the entire die - even the recesses. The coins were 100% unmolested and original.
