Not a sports item but worthy of a look.

I know nothing about toys, but this is incredible. Strong prices for collectables points to a strong economy
George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.
I used to collect GI Joes back when I was young, but I never collected Star Wars. Those Star Wars collectors are hardcore. Anyone who gets involved in the bidding on this just may very well lose an eye.
If I win this auction, I'm going all GI Joe Eddie Murphy wit it.

Big time price!
First and last cards in non sports sets are just nuts sometimes.
I think a big part of what makes this card valuable is it is Luke Skywalker who is on the card and then when you couple that with what you referenced you can get even bigger prices. This used to be like a $2,500 card. I haven't seen a sale recently to use as a comp but all I know is this is way up from where it has been. I view this as a good sign for many cards. None of these marquee cards are going cheap.
