1821 CBH Variety Set

So 5 or 6 years ago, I decided I wanted to try to do and Overton variety set, but I didn’t even know where to start. So, since 1821 only has 7 marriages, I decided that was as good as anyplace to start. I thought I would share what I have assembled to date, now I know nothing here is super rare, but I am proud of it. So, here it is! Thanks for looking!

1821 O.101A

1821 O.102

1821 O.103A

1821 O.104

1821 O.105A

    1835 is another “easy” set.

Q: When does a collector become a numismatist?

A: The year they spend more on their library than their coin collection.

A numismatist is judged more on the content of their library than the content of their cabinet.

Since completing the 1821’s I’ve assembled all of the 1820 and 1819 varieties and I am 2 varieties away from finishing 1818. I think I may have the “fever”.

Haha, ‘35 probably would have been a better place to start, ‘21 proved to be more difficult than I anticipated...
On another note, I really have you to blame for this little addiction of mine....I stopped in your shop in Florence about 6 years ago while on a trip and you sold me my very first Capped bust half and introduced me to Overton varieties.😁

I like your focus. The earlier years, while pricier, are the ones to collect. Besides the fun factor -- the Mint was young and learning (i.e., screwing up in fabulous ways) -- they are the coins with the best value.

Stay focused. Don't rush. You seem to have a good eye. Buy with patience. And share more!
