1943d Silver war nickel

well found this old nickel which is well worn from use in change some years ago, odd thing is the date 1943 is also the date my mom was born in, she would of been 76 today
one of the few old coins i have found in change over the years, it's not pretty but finding one in change is rare to do, overall i'd say a good find

Lots of nice honest wear - no rolling machine damage,
Great look. If these coins could only talk.

Nice find in change.... Those are getting scarce in commerce. I have not seen one in the last year or two...no Buffs either....Cheers, RickO
true older coins are a rare fine in change, it's nice to know that some are still in change hiding and that is what makes looking though change fun as you will never know what is lurking in your pocket change

Nice find, I come across 30's, 40's and 50's nickels quite often but war years are tougher.

Never a slave to one plastic brand will I ever be.
Around a dollar I believe in melt.
A silver war nickel is a rare find these days. I don't think I've gotten one in change in at least five years.
odd thing is finding older coins from before 1960 is rare most of what i see is early to late 1960's coins nowadays in my pocket change and yes the coin has both retail and personal value

In a box of nickels (2000 coins) I see a half dozen or so of pre 1960 and sometimes a silver war nickel. An occasional buffalo, usually dateless.
Very nice Ag find! Escaped many hands to find you, @silverpop.
I guess I fare better. In a nickel box I usually get 2 war nickels and a buff once every 2-3 boxes

sometimes you get lucky and find old coins in boxes, change and such but most time what you find is post 1950's coins anything before 1960 is harder to find then before
