From the same Coin News article:
"The eight coins in the set released today combine to 2.51 troy ounces of silver for a melt value of $43.80 based on Thursday’s LBMA silver price of $17.45 per ounce. In contrast, last year’s set has a silver weight of 2.338 troy ounces for a melt value of $40.80."
At $149.95, that's $59.74 an ounce.
That's quite a mark-up!
Here's a warning parable for coin collectors...
There are other threads on this.
The 0.999 fine silver is irrelevant. This is just the silver proof set and regular silver eagle in a different packaging - those are already 0.999 fine silver. There is nothing limited about this set other than the packaging.
And the 2019 silver proof set is $54.95 [UNLIMITED mintage]. A 2019 silver eagle proof is $55.95. [UNLIMITED mintage]
So, the very LIMITED EDITION rare box for this set costs you $39.05.
That is expensive silver.....and nothing special as far as the coins go...I was considering acquiring a set....but now I think I will pass....Cheers, RickO
