Just saw The Numismatist on sale at a local Barnes and Noble

I never 'woulda thunk' The Numismatist would be on sale at a traditional book store, but there were about 15 copies on an end cap inside a Barnes and Noble near my home. Did I buy one? No, because I walked in with my latest copy of Coin World, read it while sipping an iced tea from the cafe, then left. Sure was an interesting sight though.

More remarkable that you found a book store.
The title of this thread is straight out of 1995. What video did you rent on your way home?
This was the ANA's announcement last month.

The Numismatist Hits Barnes & Noble Shelves Next Month
Numismatists soon will be able to pick up their favorite collecting magazine while browsing the "Hobbies" section of Barnes & Noble. Starting Oct. 1, The Numismatist will be available at the retail store. "Our goal is to broaden our audience and increase awareness of the numismatic hobby," said Editor-in-Chief Barbara Gregory.
The American Numismatic Association has agreed to test-market The Numismatist, now in its 132nd year, at 600+ Barnes & Noble stores around the country for a six-month period. Look for the magazine at your local Barnes & Noble on the special promotional "end cap" displays!

I bought one from a news stand in Grand Central station in 1990.
There were about 10 other coin publications at the time for sale
as well.
What is a magazine?

Endcap placement... awesome!
This is a positive for the hobby.
I will be at a Barnes & Noble this week, will look for it. They have always had a couple of coin magazines in the hobby section. Cheers, RickO
I always prefer a magazine than its digital counterpart. Maybe I'm old fashioned.

I also saw the numismatist at my local Barnes and Noble about a week ago. Already received my copy in the mail from the ANA so did not purchase another one. This is a great thing for the hobby. Hopefully it will bring more into the fold.

Same with books for me. I prefer printed books over ebooks all day. I just like holding a book and turning the pages. Not to mention your battery doesn't die in a paper book.
