Newb question - lamination errors

How do you identify lamination? I watched the PCGS video. My question relates to this coin. I Just purchased it. I do not see the part that is "about to flake off" which is the only thing I understand about this type of issue.

    I don't see it either.

Don't confuse laminations (or delaminations) with lines and striations due to uneven metal mixture (although one can lead to the other).

I don't either from the image but if it is on the label, 99.9% of the time it is not an error in labeling.

While most laminations are linear, often accompanied by discoloration of the surface, and especially common on War Nickel, they can take any shape or size.

I purchased this coin on Ebay and the listing said BU UNC lamination. I bought it because I thought it looked quite good. I also was not able to see lamination which is what generated my question. Thanks for the help

It does look a bit that way on 2nd glance and the devices almost look slightly frosty.

The only area I see that could raise the idea is the raised piece through the hair at the back of the neck...would have to see it in hand....Cheers, RickO

I don't see any lamination. The "Cameo effect" may actually be the result of a lightly circulated coin having been dipped. The areas on the coins that were originally toned dark (which happens very quickly on the war nickels) now take on a washed out look. The coin would have to be seen in hand to be certain.

    All glory is fleeting.

Could there be something in the field between the hair and slightly below the 3?

I think I'm seeing the beginning of something from the left side of the building up to the E. I have a vivid imagination too. Peace Roy
