As one of my co-workers likes to say when a collector brings a coin to the table for an opinion: "Yes, it is real."

It looks like a genuine MS-62, yet coins may not be authenticated or graded successfully from an image.

    Ok thanks for your input

The coin looks semi-proof-like, if not proof-like. Since that type doesn’t normally display such characteristics, my guess is that either the imaging isn’t true to life or the coin has been messed with.

The coin don’t look like that in person, that picture was taken in bright sunlight which might explain that, I’ll try to take a couple more pictures

Looks real. Either a 58 or 62 depending on if there's a trace of wear that's not showing up in your pics or not. Nice coin in any event.

Ok thanks! I’m thinking MS since with the coin in hand, there is a luster effect on the headdress that I see from my other MS quarter eagle Indians.

This is my first one that I bought ungraded. Got it for a deal for a deal at $200

Not sure whats up with the first star at the neck but doesn't look right at all to me. I'm going with fake or at least unable to authenticate via provided image.

I matched it up with my other authentic ones in slabs and PCGS coin facts and the star looks fine

    Gold is always good.

I’d send it end for the slab/ authentication if your planning on selling it in the future since it’ll ease buyer jitters on counterfeits.

    IMO

Maybe the lighting then but I've never seen the neck come down into the star before. Congrats!

I've been looking at $2.5 Indians lately for a type set addition... this one looks legit to my untrained eye. For $200?! I think you did well! I'm in agreement with low MS... 62-ish...

Thank you for your input. I am personally thinking low MS because of the luster on the headdress when the coin hand.

Yes I’m convinced that it’s genuine with the input of the people above, my own research of the coin under a digital microscope and the correct weight, thickness, and diameter.

Could be just a weak incuse strike that I am seeing on the eagle and headdress.

Thanks for the offer, but gold and key dates are the two areas of collecting where I prefer to buy slabbed coins. The counterfeits have gotten really good and I don't mind covering the slabbing fees to have that peace of mind...
