Here we go again....Fake PSA Holder with 1959 Mantle on eBay

I can't believe this seller. Not only are they admitting to selling a fake mantle but the title says fake PSA tag. If you look at the holder it appears to be a real PSA holder with a real cert # on back. If someone is kind enough to post the link, here is the eBay item number:312793311967. I looked up the cert # and what a card that is:
Certification Number 03770131

Seller says they got it over five years ago. I don't think the back of the flip looked like that until the last two or three years.
If you're even remotely serious about selling stuff on Ebay, I don't understand why anyone would do this unless they are genuinely a bad person or just very stupid.

Another reasonable question is why a $3000 card was cracked out of this holder within the last couple of years.

It's listed as a fake, so the seller is disclosing that, no problem in that respect.

Card is most likely a reprint of some kind?

My question is what happens to it if someone does buy it?

I think someone should buy it, determine if it's a fake or not and then, if it is a fake, destroy it.

I don't have an issue with fake cards. But It is a fake card in what appears to be an authentic PSA holder. PSA has the copyright on that and I don't think they would want their trademark product in a listing with a fake card or "Fake PSA tag". I 'm not sure what's going on with the cert on the back. Anyway, If you want to sell a fake card, great to each his own, but I don't think it is right to use a PSA holder. Just my opinion.

Fakes have their place .... maybe you get it for a young relative to familiarize them with baseball cards.... Im mildly surprised by the miffed post to begin with..... no harm, no foul to me whatsoever....

Most certainly harm regardless of the disclosure. In the very least to the PSA brand.

That is no where near being a real PSA holder. The design of the holder is wrong, the font on the front of the flip is wrong, the grade "VG-6"????? is wrong, and there is no barcode or cert # on the front.

    It is completely bogus!!!!!

If PSA is mad about the flip, they could buy the card and destroy the flip, I suppose they could contact ebay and file a complaint as well.

    Minor headache here.

try starting a soft drink company, make the can red and white with the words “coke” or “coca~cola” and report back.

yes, its a very minor headache but when it comes to brand protection and considering it is only a minor headache, solving it should be relatively easy.

i wonder how frank lucas would handle it?

Obviously the label is bogus, as stated in the seller's listing, but why show the PSA name in the holder?

Card is 100% a reprint. The corners are dead giveaways.

That's what crooks do, they make fakes, and try to pass them off to the unknowing and unsuspecting, as the real thing. Crooks have been doing that for years.......fake "Rolex" watches.....fake "Gucci" handbags.....

The label should say FAKE. Otherwise, it should be reported as fraud. It may have been, which may be why the item is no longer available.

I had it reported and it was then removed. Thank you for the heads up!
