Like that a lot @Outhaul. Where’d you get the frame?

I would have done the same. Looks good!
I have a 1976 sheet of twos with the BEP cardboard "frame" around them that I need to get framed.

Many years ago I used a full sheet of "ones" to wrap a Christmas present to my wife. She loved it! (the wrapping was a bigger hit than the gift).

I just bought a sheet of those in $2 from BEP when I went to DC last year. I still need to get them framed like that. I was a bit too cheep to buy the $100 bills for the wall hanger. :(

More fun to spend. Take scissors and go to the store. The looks you will get when you cut the sheet to pay wil be priceless.

Just think, you can cut them down the center of the portrait leaving two different serial numbers on each "bill". Think of all the "what is my error worth" calls they will generate. :D

Outhaul, what series are they? Even with the big pic I can't see the date.

Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.

So where did Mrs. Outhaul allow you to hang this?

(Mrs. DCW would relegate this treasure to the downstairs bathroom, next to the poker playing pooches. )

    It's hanging in my office.

Don't they use special serial numbers for these so that won't work?

  • Batman23Batman23 Posts: 5,001 ✭✭✭✭✭

I am not that familiar with currency but I can't see why it wouldn't work. They are legal tender and real money. They are the same thing they cut up for circulation as far as I am aware.

The BEP used a special series of serial numbers to thwart those who would cut the sheets in such a way to create errors to sell to the collecting community. One could fool a novice paper money collector but you wouldn't fool an experienced collector.

    Nice.

Had one half the size of $2 Bills. Was stolen along with numerous other items in a burglary at my home back in 2005. The perps cut it up and took it to a local quick mart and bought cigarettes. (Video footage showed)

Yes, I believe it is the 99X serial numbers. My sheet of ones and twos are both 99X, this sheet of fives is also 99X.

Think about it a second Matt - would a woman tear up paper money on purpose?

Of course she was careful removing the sheet - I used a minimum amount of "low stick" tape. A quick run thru my paper cutter and we had individual bills. Not perfect, but close enough to spend.

That is good info to know. Now I will have to look at my sheet of twos and see if they are all 99s also.

It' been hanging on the side wall of my recliner for over twenty years.

It's one of two identicals that I made up for my daughters and this one belongs to the daughter in California but there's no practical way to get it to her.
Wife has always wanted to make a cross country road trip so it may yet be hand delivered.

Neither of them have ever had an interest in coins and bills (other than spending them) but they both thought these were cool :)

Well now, I figured you just cut on the dotted lines :)

  • HemisphericalHemispherical Posts: 9,370 ✭✭✭✭✭

Carefully fold a small uncut sheer/section (1x4 or whatever) so only the front of one bill is viewable.

    Leave as tip.

Watch as waiter/waitress picks it up and unfolds to see a short sheet of uncut bills.

    Fun tipping tip. :)
