I'd have to say 62, but I like it.
63, I don't see anything too offensive about it.

61/62 That looks like a pretty good ding right on the cheek and the chatter on the neck.
But what are those spots on the rim? Is that photo trimmed from a coin in a holder or is that coin removed from a bezel? It almost looks like solder residue.
Looks like an old rattler to me.

Hi and thank you so much for sharing your thoughts. This coin yes, is in a holder, but not a first tier grading service holder or even a second tier grading service holder. To me it appears to be a 63 but yes it could be a 61/62 as well, that is why I am appreciating others' opinions here to try and pin it down more accurately.
looks 63 to me.
Accugrade?

I can’t get past MS62, due to the facial marks. And a details-grade crossed my mind.

I am going 62. How is a coin with that cheek damage going to go down as "choice BU" - which is what MS63 is supposed to be.
Coin looks dipped and partially retoned.
Well, just Love coins, period.
Details because of the facial marks or something else?
Sorry for not having specified - for the facial marks.

Those rim marks look very much like the remains of an old mount, and if so this coin would likely get a details grade from one of the top 3 services imo.

Never a slave to one plastic brand will I ever be.
It's a large photo so I bet it looks much better in hand. Probably a pcgs rattler or a blanchard holder. I'm guessing 63 possibly a 64 at max based on what i've seen in those two type holders.
The OP already posted “... This coin yes, is in a holder, but not a first tier grading service holder or even a second tier grading service holder...”

oops, the plastic in the photo holding the coin looks like a Blanchard holder since we now know it's def not pcgs.
I think 62
That would have been my third guess.

Nets out to around 60 imo.
Bad place for such unsightly marks

I'm sorry I should have typed this before, yes the coin is in a Blanchard holder and graded as an MS63 however I originally just wanted to treat the coin as raw as being raw with no grade here on the post, as I know Blanchard is not even counted in proper grading services circles. Thanks a lot so far for sharing everyone, much appreciated.
MS61 due to facial marks and, based on the photos, very bland luster.
61/2
I do not see it going above a 62.
I would grade that Peace as a 62... the rim marks are reminiscent of being in a belt buckle for a while...I have seen several of those.... Cheers, RickO
Well, I grade it around $100. I’d like to see it in hand as I’m not so sure it doesn’t also have a bit of rub..... taking it to AU slider country. If it is MS, I see it as a 61, but one that has the scarlet letter in the middle of her face.
That's a good way to grade...... mine was around a hundred bucks for PCGS AU 55.
It appears that the majority don't think the rim marks would prevent this coin from straight-grading. I'd be interested to understand better what's behind that thinking. Does the fact that the damage is limited to the rims enter into the equation? Do the rim marks cause you to net down the grade?
My first thought was PMD = Details but people with more experience than me have gone the other way.
Smitten with DBLCs.
The rim marks you see are the tabs from the plastic holder.

Aha. Thanks.

Completely agree... my first impression was AU 55 so I was very surprised to see all of the mint state grades proffered.
Not seeing wear; cheek and fields seem to have ample luster. Seeing typical weak strike and heavy/unfortunate marks that makes S mint peace dollars so challenging in high grade.

The Peace dollars seem difficult to grade to me. I have a few....like them a lot. Looks like a 62 to my eyes. However, the obverse has some distracting areas. Most notably the “P” in Peace. Some other pits as well. .
Regardless of the grade - slider or very low ms - I would pass due to the glaring marks on the Liberty’s face
62 and nice for the grade of a much better date. Some negative Nelly’s on here
If in a rattler it is worth several hundred dollars

Looks 62
