Visiting the Liberty Bell last month inspired me (numismatically)!

My quest was a Franklin Half that was struck in Philadelphia( obvious reason), that has pleasant, naturally toned surfaces and is fairly well struck. 1948-1950 were the target dates after reading many threads on the forum. I wasn't even close on price with a couple that caught my eye and now belong to other people! I had actually forgot about this one until I got the notification that it was mine from GC last week! Lol. First pics are courtesy or Ian and friends...last 2 are mine. I'm happy! Special thanks goes out to @thisistheshow for taking some time to educate me with the series and being patient with what was probably "rambling" at times!

Very nice.
Nice Franklin half... I always liked these (grew up with them and WLH's) and feel it is an under appreciated series. Cheers, RickO
Just a gilt high relief 1876 so-called dollar showing the Bell and Independence hall

Thank you for sharing!

Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......
I like Franklins a lot and I think that they are underappreciated.
Sometimes, it’s better to be LUCKY than good. 🍀 🍺👍

Congratulations on finding one you liked! It's a beauty.
On the other side of the grading spectrum... My pocket piece of close to 20 years.

And the plaque outside of his grave site at Christ Church...
I was in Philly two weekends ago and the security to visit the Liberty Bell was the same as going through the airport with the TSA. That being said it was a great exhibit as I hadn't been there in many years.

I am dating myself but when I went as as kid you could just walk right up to it and touch it.
+1
We went in 1976 and I have a picture somewhere of my finger stuck in the crack.
I was seven.
Same here, walk right up and touch it. It's a brand new world after September 11th.

Thanks for the replies. I was really surprised how close they let you get....I can't imagine being able to touch it! That was probably an incredible feeling for those that had the opportunity!!!
