Need some help attributing this cute token. 1.7g, 18.7mm, obv. longacre style head left with 24 dots, Rev. perched eagle left (Union style) with 7 stars and 3 dots. No initials, no date and neither die design is in the Bowers CW Token book. Thanks Roy

Thinking that might be a gaming token or spielmark? I am pretty sure I have seen the similar portrait before on similar tokens from the late 1860s through the 1880s. That said, I am not an expert by any stretch, so see what others have to say as well.

@seanq Good thought, spielmark is possible. I'm going to check that now. Thanks and have a good day. Peace Roy

Considering its small size it could be play money. Just a guess.

It is a $2 1/2 gold sized game counter but the Liberty Head with pellets around doesn't match up with anything in the Fuld-Rulau TAMS Journal supplement (which is the most used reference for U.S. game counters). It is probably listed in the more expansive & specialized game counter catalog series by Benj Fauver but my copy of the $2 1/2 catalog is packed away. The Fauver series is more complete in coverage but didn't sell in large quantities so it never became the standard catalog used in this field.

Sure looks like an old, well used token.... No idea as to what it is....but I would save it if I found it... ;) Yeah, I save all those strange, coin like items....Cheers, RickO

Thanks @tokenpro your info completes the circle. I do love this aspect of jeton-token exonumia. Peace Roy
